Verdict
š“ Rejected
These dosing funnels did not earn a place on our coffee bench.
While they performed their basic function and had acceptable build quality, the lightweight aluminium construction and steep internal angle made them less enjoyable to use than our preferred stainless steel alternative.
What We Liked
- Simple design.
- No loosening during testing.
- No noticeable scratches or wear.
- Performed its basic function without issue.
Why We Rejected It
The aluminium construction made the funnels feel too light during use. We prefer the more substantial weight and feel of stainless steel.
We also found the internal edge of the funnel too steep. When using a WDT tool, the near 90-degree angle provided less room to move around the basket compared with our preferred funnel, which has a more open, approximately 45-degree angle.
Neither issue stopped the funnel from working, but together they made the overall workflow less enjoyable.
Would We Recommend It?
No.
The funnels work, but after 17 days and approximately 40 coffees, we consistently preferred using our stainless steel alternative.
For us, a tool doesn't just need to function. It needs to be something we genuinely enjoy using every day.
Lab Notes
Dosing funnels are simple tools, but small design differences can have a noticeable impact on workflow. The weight of the material and the angle of the funnel both affected how this product felt during puck preparation, particularly when using WDT.
There was nothing fundamentally wrong with these funnels, but when given the choice, we consistently reached for the heavier stainless steel alternative. For that reason, they did not meet our standards.
